The Saha Lab traveled to Baltimore this November for the 2022 ASA, CSSA, and SSSA International Annual Meeting, where scientists and researchers from around the world gathered to discuss all things agricultural science. All members of the Saha lab had exciting research to share at the conference.
Postdoc Jashan Dhaliwal presented her research investigation into the climate impact of adopting no-till and legume cover cropping, “Does long-term adoption of no tillage and legume cover crop aid in mitigating nitrous oxide emissions?”

PhD student Facundo Lussich presented two posters during the conference detailing his work in soil nitrous oxide emissions and biological nitrogen fixation. His poster titled “Effect of Cover Crop Residue Decomposition on Soil Oxygen Concentration and Nitrous Oxide Emissions” won third prize in the poster competition hosted by the Soil Carbon and Greenhouse Gas Community!
PhD student Arjun Chhetri also presented two posters covering his work in soil nitrous oxide emissions, organic systems, and cover cropping during the conference. His poster “Drivers and controls of nitrous oxide emissions during cover crop decomposition in organic crop rotation” won second prize in the poster session hosted by the Biochar: Agronomic and Environmental Uses Community!
PhD student Ryan Ackett gave an oral presentation summarizing his work on characterizing and predicting nitrous oxide “hot moments.” His presentation titled “Predicting Agricultural Nitrous Oxide “Hot Moment” Occurrences and Drivers Using Machine Learning Techniques” won first prize in the oral presentation competition hosted by the Global Climate Change Community!
We are so proud of all of the Saha Lab members for their incredible work, and happy to see their efforts be awarded by the Tri-Societies!
